Commitment to Prayer
“Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” (Psalm 5:2-3)
I met an old friend in the mall last year. We talked about getting together, but it hasn’t happened. If we had appointed a time and place, that would have helped. If we had written it on our calendars we would have remembered.
These things will help you get together with God:
1. Set a specific time.
2. Commit to that appointment.
3. Avoid interruptions.
Every person has a different schedule. If possible, start your day with prayer. You are rested then and more able to focus. If morning, however, is impossible, set aside another time when you can meet with God on a regular basis. Make a note of the time so you’ll remember.
Do what you can to avoid interruptions. Ask your family to respect this commitment and help by minimizing interruptions.
Commit yourself to your time with God. Keep your appointments with Him. You won’t regret it.
