Private Prayer
“Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side while he dismissed the crowd...He went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.” (Matthew 14:22-23)
Can you imagine a husband and wife who only talk with each other in public? If we love our spouses, we long for “alone time” with them. When we have made a commitment to someone, we need to set our time together as a high priority.
Christians are the bride of Christ. We talk intimately with Him on a regular basis if we want a close relationship with Him. Jesus spent much time communing with His Father God. He also spent a lot of time talking with His disciples. He knew both were excellent investments.
Where we invest our time and effort will determine what benefits we reap. If we bank on temporal investments, we will collect temporal rewards. If we invest in eternal assets, we will accrue lasting returns.
Do you want to put time into relational investments? Do you long to deposit time into spiritual investments? Are you banking on eternal returns? Prayer fits all of those criteria. Make prayer a top priority.
