A Visual History of the King James Bible (15.00)

With a gift of $15.00 or more
For 400 years the King James Version of the Holy Bible has been the most influential book to be published in the English language. Now Bible collector and expert Donald L. Brake brings to life the fascinating story of its creation and proliferation throughout the English-speaking world.

With beautiful and informative photos, illustrations, charts, and sidebars, Brake invites you to explore the KJV's mysterious beginnings, the men who translated it, the manuscripts on which this translation was based, the important people and places that influenced its production, and even the possibility of Shakespeare's influence on it.

Discover what has made the King James Version endure for four centuries.

After graduating from seminary, Dr. Brake, his wife Carol, and their family spent two terms as missionaries in Ethiopia. He then accepted a teaching position at Multnomah and later assumed the deanship of the seminary. He accepted the invitation to serve as president of Jerusalem University College (formerly the Institute of Holy Land Studies) from 1990-93. In the mid-90's, Dr. Brake served as pastor of North Carrollton Baptist Church in Texas. Dr. Brake is a collector of ancient Bibles and manuscripts in Greek, Latin, and English. His collection is currently exhibited at the Dunham Bible Museum, Houston Baptist University.
