More slaves in the world today than at any other time in history. 30 million men, women, and children around the world are enslaved today. And surprisingly, there are people held enslaved against their will the US and Canada. <br> <br>“Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed.” –Isaiah 1:17. A forgotten verse and yet God’s Word to us today. Does it surprise you to hear there are more people in slavery today than ever before? Does it come as a surprise that people are in slavery in the US and Canada? This coming Sunday is Freedom Sunday. In 2010, 1000 churches remembered. In 2011, 2500. In 2012, 5300 and hopefully many more this coming Sunday. It is a day when voices around the world cry out that no one should be for sale. If Jesus could have compassion on those who were trafficked humans, shouldn’t we have compassion as well? If we give someone whose hungry a loaf of bread along with sharing the living bread of Christ, shouldn’t we do the same for those enslaved? <br> <br>Welcome to HT, I’m CM sharing the GS that’s all about Jesus and a program series called Moving to Compassion. Let me tell you how this came about. We had a prayer meeting with members of our team last summer and asked the question, what does the Lord want us to be talking about in light of the Gospel? Little did she know that this is what the Lord would use a few decades later to bring freedom from slavery and freedom in Christ to young women in southern California. <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br> <br>Sheila was just 12 when she ran away from home to escape her molesting stepfather. On the streets a seemingly nice man befriended her and quickly sucked her into a prostitution ring.
