Schedule

DAY 1: DEPART FROM NORTH AMERICA
Sunday, November 8

Tomorrow you will be arriving in the ancient land of the Scriptures.

DAY 2: ARRIVE IN JORDAN

Monday, November 9

We arrive in Amman where we will be met by our Jordanian guide. We will be taken to our hotel for dinner, an opportunity to meet each other and a good rest.

DAY 3: BETHANY-BEYOND-THE-JORDAN, MT. NEBO
Tuesday, November 10

Today we begin to explore this land that is so rich in Biblical history. We will stop at Bethany-Beyond-the-Jordan (where Jesus was baptized), Mt. Nebo (where Moses viewed the Promised Land) and Madaba, where we will see the oldest map of the Holy Land. Arrive in Petra.

DAY 4: PETRA
Wednesday, November 11

Today we see firsthand one of the seven modern wonders of the world. The city of Petra is a spectacular display of antiquity with its red rock architecture. Known to be inhabited by the descendants of Esau, and dating back 2300 years, it is accessed through an immense crack in the Nabatean sandstone called the "Siq."

DAY 5: AMMAN, REFUGEE CENTER, CHURCH SERVICE

Thursday, November 12

We will travel back to Amman in the morning and in the afternoon we will have the privilege of visiting a refugee center for those displaced by surrounding military conflict. After dinner we will worship with a local congregation.

DAY 6: JORDAN TO ISRAEL, BETH SHE'AN, NAZARETH
Friday, November 13

Crossing the border can be a long process, so we will leave early, giving us time in Israel to visit the amazing archaeological site of Beth She'an and also Nazareth. We will experience a first-century reconstruction of Nazareth Village to give us a glimpse into life in Jesus' time. Finally we will arrive at our accommodation at Ein Gev on the shores of Galilee.

DAY 7: THE GALILEE

Saturday, November 14

We begin the Sabbath with an early morning visit to Mt. Arbel, overlooking the beautiful Sea of Galilee, then we will worship with a group of Messianic believers. Following the service we will visit the sites of Capernaum, the feeding of the 5000 and the Mount of Beatitudes. Our final stops will be a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee and a baptism at the Jordan River.

DAY 8: NORTHERN GALILEE
Sunday, November 15

We will be visiting two significant sites emphasizing the loss of God's blessing on Israel: Dan and Caesarea Philippi (the site of Peter's Confession). On our way north we will stop at Hazor, one of the largest biblical cities of ancient Canaan. Returning to the Galilee we will travel across the Golan Heights where our guide will highlight the history of the Six Day War of 1967.

DAY 9: MEGIDDO, MT. CARMEL, CAESAREA

Monday, November 16

Our journey to Jerusalem begins as we travel through the Jezreel Valley to Megiddo, the Armageddon battlefield, where archaeologists have unearthed 20 levels of civilization. We then drive to Mt. Carmel, where Elijah challenged King Ahab and the prophets of Baal. Lastly, as we reach the Mediterranean Sea, we visit Caesarea, touring the Roman Amphitheatre and aqueduct dating back to the time of King Herod. Finally we make our way to the Golden City Jerusalem where we will stay for the next few nights.

DAY 10: JESUS' LAST DAYS
Tuesday, November 17

We will begin to understand the last days of Jesus more clearly as we visit some of the places recorded in the Gospels. We will visit the site of the Upper Room, the Mount of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane and Caiaphas' house (the High Priest at that time). From the Mount of Olives we will view the amazing panorama of Jerusalem, imagining what it was like 2000 years ago. Our day will end with a visit to the Israeli Museum, home to the Dead Sea Scrolls and a detailed model of Biblical Jerusalem. If time allows we will also visit the Holocaust Museum.

DAY 11: TEMPLE MOUNT, RABINNICAL TUNNELS

Wednesday, November 18

Conditions permitting, we will visit the Temple Mount (which is now home to the Dome of the Rock) and the Wailing Wall. We will then go underground through the Rabbinical Tunnels where we will see the original giant stone foundation of the Second Temple and a Roman street from the 1st century. These tunnels will take us to the area of the Judgment Hall of Pilate. Not far away we will find the Pool of Bethesda, Stephen's Gate and St. Ann's church. We'll finish our day with time to shop and explore the Old City Market, worship together in Christ Church and then dine at the famous King David Hotel.

DAY 12: THE DEAD SEA, MASADA, EIN GEDI, QUMRAN
Thursday, November 19

This adventure packed day trip will take us south of Jerusalem into the Judean Wilderness and the area of the Dead Sea. Beginning at the mountain top fortress of Masada, built by King Herod, we will hear the story of the famous zealot stand and the climax of the Roman siege. From there we will head back north with a stop at the incredible "Spring of the Goat," Ein Gedi, where David hid from Saul. Next we will see the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, and then our afternoon ends with a swim in the Dead Sea and the "Genesis Land Dinner" in Abraham's Tent!

DAY 13: CITY OF DAVID, SOUTHERN STEPS, VIA DOLOROSA, GARDEN TOMB
Friday, November 20

The City of David is an active archaeological site. For those with a sense of adventure we will walk the 350 yards underground through Hezekiah's tunnel to the Pool of Siloam. We will also see the southern steps that led up to the Temple and the purification pools, where it is believed the disciples baptized 3000 on the Day of Pentecost. We will walk the Via Dolorosa, the way of suffering, then end our day at Golgotha, the place of the skull, and the Garden Tomb where we will celebrate the Lord's Supper together.

DAY 14: DEPART FOR HOME
Saturday, November 21

We will farewell the Golden City, making our way to the Tel Aviv Airport for our flight homeward.
