“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.”

Isaiah 26:3
In the Bible we don’t see a lot of young Mary during her nine months of waiting for the birth of her baby boy, Jesus, Messiah of the world. What we do observe is that she seemed to be serene and at peace with what the Lord was doing in her life. Her song, recorded by Luke, tells us how glad and content she was to be God’s servant. She trusted her Savior implicitly.
Decades later, another Mary and her sister Martha were awaiting their friend Jesus—now a grown man—who’d be coming to their house. The sisters approached His visit very differently: Martha scurrying around to make every detail perfect, Mary choosing to sit at His feet and learn in His presence. This Mary’s picture of calmness and peace before her Lord is a beautiful reminder to us to come to Him and do the same.
The strength we need to face each day with some degree of serenity can’t be mustered up; perfect peace comes only because we put our trust in Jesus Christ. The Prince of Peace who came to bring peace on earth is our only true source of perfect peace.
